洛匈偏振器是由两个双折射晶体棱镜的光学胶合或胶水结合在一起. 第一棱镜,入射光方向将平行于光轴. 第二棱镜,光轴方向与入射光束方向垂直, 这样平常光按同样方向无偏折透射, 而非常光出射方向发生了偏折. 洛匈偏振器可以用来获得平面偏振光, 而且可以应用用紫外波段. 可以针对特定波长设计任何特定的光束分离角/偏折角.
