双波长波片是设计用于双波长工作中, 对于其中一个波长为1/4波片, 另一个波长为半波片. 一个常见的应用是将一个波长的偏振态旋转90°, 而另一波长的偏振态保持不变. 这经常发生在非线性倍频或三倍频的激光光源, 如Nd:YAG激光器(1064/532/355/266nm).
